Why do I get the error "Unable to complete network request to host database. Failed to locate host machine. Undefined service gds_db/tcp" with the InterBase ODBC driver?

The problem is that the InterBase ODBC driver cannot resolve the service name gds_db.

To fix this, edit this registry subkey:

SYSTEM32\drivers\etc\services

Add:

gds_db 3050/tcp
