At Easysoft Limited we love talking to businesses and learning more about what drives them and any data issues that they have; at a recent data event in the UK I had the opportunity to do just that.
The majority of the discussions centred on two main topics: Business Intelligence tools and Big Data.
From a BI perspective the main questions seemed to be "How do I simplify the connection between these applications and my data sources?" and "Can this be achieved in real-time to avoid getting stale data back?"
Obviously ODBC Drivers are the answer here, take our Salesforce Driver for example, it's simple to install and gets real time data back in an instant.
On the subject of Big Data, I had a great chat with a developer from a company that builds applications for the Financial Services industry.
For one of his applications he takes some low level financial data and dumps it into a data repository for reporting purposes; he uses MongoDB to power much of the infrastructure and was looking at an efficient way of accessing and analysing his data in a high performance manner. He is now helping us with some initial Beta Testing for our ODBC Driver.
I share this with you to illustrate the point that enterprises use lots of different applications and have lots of different data sources, and integration between these is extremely critical to their success.
