Why do I get error "ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied"?

Check that the User and Password attributes for the data source in the odbc.ini file specify a valid Oracle user name and password.

If you are connecting to an Oracle 11g database (or a later version), check that the password specified in odbc.ini is the correct case. By default, passwords are case sensitive for new or modified accounts in Oracle 11g.
