Sybase ODBC driver

ODBC driver for Sybase ASE 12.5–16, Express, and SAP SQL Anywhere 17

The Easysoft Sybase ODBC driver is an ODBC 3.5 driver for Sybase Adaptive Server Enterprise (ASE). It lets applications that support ODBC access Sybase ASE 12.5.x, 15, 16 (including Sybase ASE Express Edition), and SAP SQL Anywhere 17 from Linux and major UNIX platforms.

Supported applications include StarOffice and ApplixWare. Supported interfaces include Perl DBI and DBD::ODBC, Python mxODBC, and PHP.

The Sybase ODBC driver is compatible with and includes unixODBC, the open-source ODBC Driver Manager for non-Windows platforms. The Sybase ODBC driver installation can automatically install the driver into unixODBC, making the Sybase ODBC driver immediately available to your ODBC applications. The unixODBC project is currently led by Easysoft developer Nick Gorham and we have many years of experience in supporting and testing our drivers with unixODBC.

The driver can be installed on remote client computers or locally on the database server. When installed on remote clients, the Sybase ODBC driver uses the Sybase Tabular Data Stream (TDS) protocol to connect to the Sybase ASE database.

In addition, the Sybase ODBC driver:

  • Supports native Sybase ASE SQL syntax.
  • Handles concurrent database connections.
  • Is thread-safe and therefore safe to use behind multi-threaded applications.
  • Supports all Sybase data types, including TIMESTAMP introduced in ASE 12.5.1.
  • Supports transactions.
  • Lets you generate diagnostic trace logs so that you can monitor the ODBC calls an application makes.
