How do I upgrade the SQL Server ODBC driver?

Make sure you've downloaded the correct version of the SQL Server ODBC driver. If you're unsure as to your current version, examine installation_dir/easysoft/sqlserver_install.info. This file contains your platform and build information. If you're still unsure which version to download, email , and make sure you attach your sqlserver_install.info file.

Note The default installation_dir is /usr/local.

Note that upgrades are only available to supported customers. Contact our Sales team () if you're no longer supported and require a quotation for the new driver version. If you don't know whether your company is supported, check your last Easysoft invoice or email and ask the Support team.

These instructions assume you installed the SQL Server ODBC driver in the default directory installation_dir/easysoft. If you installed the driver in another directory, substitute installation_dir/easysoft with $EASYSOFT_ROOT.

You don't need to remove your existing driver distribution before upgrading.

To upgrade the SQL Server ODBC driver:

  1. Unpack the SQL Server ODBC driver tar file.
  2. From the extracted directory, run ./install — this starts the installer.
  3. Towards the end of the installation, you're asked if you require a license key. Choose No.
  4. At the end of the installation, choose No when prompted to set up an ODBC data source. Your existing data source is compatible with the upgraded driver.

If you're upgrading from a previous version (for example, version 2.0 to 2.1), run this program post-installation:

cd /usr/local/easysoft/license
./licshell

Select SQL Server from the list, and make a note of the retrieved site information number. Send this number, along with the licenses file from the same directory, to . The Licensing team will then issue you a replacement license key.

This step isn't required if you're installing a new build of an existing version (for example, 2.1.1 to 2.1.2).

If you have any problems at all, contact the Support team ().
